This had to be the worst MMA event I've ever attended. While sitting in the stands as an observer, I had the chance to talk to numerous promoters, fighters, and fans... and the general concensus was that the evening was shitty. The fights were crappy, the reffing was poor at best, and the matchups for the most part were horrible. That was the worst 60 bucks I have ever spent for 3 tickets to any event. 99% of those I talked to said they would not come to the next PFC event. Even a couple who were sitting next to me WHO WERE GIVEN FREE TICKETS said they wouldnt come back... even if the they were given free tickets again. The hype about the "fight club meets the nightclub" was a letdown. There was nothing special about the music, video, or the fights in general. Shit... the video guy had obviously had too much to drink cuz he couldnt even hold the damn camera straight. If you watched the screens, you felt like you were on a damn rollercoaster ride. If it wasnt for the hot chick dancing in the small ring off to the side, or the hot chicks dancing in the crowd behind me in the cheap seats, there was nothing to look at. Even the next fights will have Wes Sims fighting against a can. Who the hell wants to see that? Not even an entertaining fight. And I see Poppies was once again handed an easy fight. Even out from under the WEC banner, he still gets lesser opponents handed to him. The only good part of the night was seeing Cal Pat's boys get their asses handed to them. I guess that was worth the price of admission. The only lucky people there tonight were the ones who came hoping to buy extra tickets... and were unable to and went home.

Thank God there will be a Beatdown in Bakersfield and a Gladiator Challenge in March to make up for this poor excuse for an event. The last GC event I covered blew the PFC event out of the water. No contest, PFC was a flop.

Please don't hold back, tell us how you really feel, lol.
:)
Couldn't disagree more...I talked to a lot of people who were having a great time. I thought the show went pretty smooth. Here is the list of my $.02:
-The Palace fans love them some butterbean! Yes, he's hardly Fedor, but he puts butts in seats, and that allows the locals to do their thing too.
-It was neat to see the fighters get interviewed by local media as soon as they came backstage postfight...I have never seen that much non MMA media coverage at any event (UFC and Japan Exclude).
-Ento (as I have been saying since all along) is legit. His greatest asset is not his subs or his striking, but his capacity to improve every single time.
-Hit boy showed class in defeat.
-Poppies gets better every fight. I noticed he has made a lot of subtle improvements...strikes from all position (especially top of guard) were much shorter and crisper.
-Rafael fought a good, clean, fair fight, and was humble in victory.
-Ruger007 can NOT dance in the least bit, although he certainly tried from atop his chair on more then one occassion.
-The dude that jumped in the small ring to dance post fight was pretty funny.
-Savant Young and I shared a few laughs backstage, but we sounded like a couple of old men reminsicing about the days of neutral grounds/kage kombat in san pedro and long beach.
-MDA and Jacob Jeff were as nice as possible when they made me "re-wrap" Rolando Torre's, and they let me vent about knuckles, protections, and assorted other topics with nothing but a smile and a thank you.
-MGD should probably sponser New Era Martial Arts, considering the New Era section most likely paid for a new company car last night with their gross sales. I've never seen a clean up crew have to come in THE MIDDLE OF THE EVENT to remove all the emptys lol.
For twenty bucks, I thought it was a great value. To each their own I guess.

well they delivered fights, music, dancing girls and butterbean. I guess they must go to some boring ass nite clubs. P.S. tosh need some chap stick?
Tosh, I agree with everything you said. It was the first PFC event, and you can't expect perfection. However, I really enjoyed myself, in everything I was doing. I kind of found it funny someone said "Thank god there's a Gladiator Challenge in March." Haha, are you kidding me?
So to those who were unsatisfied, it's only a matter of perspective and I'm sorry your experience wasn't as good as others. I don't think that's enough to completely write off an event though. Things will only get better with time.
Anyways Tosh, great seeing you as always.
Oh, and it was good to meet you too Bro (where ever you are).

this guy is a complete moron obviously works for Gladiator challenge i guess he would rather see a guy off the streets who can sell 50 tickets fight then people who actually focus on training and not the other bullshit u have to deal with in Gladiator challenge. Next time u want to hug GC nuts do it on there forum i will give u matt mcphereson number and u can swing from his nuts also maybe then u wont have to spend 40 dollars on a ticket at the next gladiator challenge to see dustin arden vs joe blow off the streets u tell me a bigger name at any GC show then what was in the PFC last night. Actually mr james i would personally like to meet u if possible then im sure your mouth will stop running like water.

New forum, same old intolerant assholes and keyboard cowboys. Swing on GC's nuts? Not hardly. They put on a way better show than last night. As far as shutting me up, joker... that shit's for kids. Somt things never change. That's what's great about forums... someone voices their opinions and people still wont allow others to see shit differently. Sounds to me like YOU are the nutswinger. You just cant let go of WEC. I wont argue the point. Plain and simple... IN MY OPINION, the event sucked. Swing away, joker. Swing away.

You're right, every one has an opinion.
But what hype are you talking about?
This promotion was put on in six weeks, so I don't know where all the hype might have come from. This forum wasn't even up 'til the week of the fights.
Maybe I can get you some better seats next time and you can refocus your negativity.
Best of luck to you, though.

I completely agree, and your opinion is just as valid as mine.
Being the first show, sure there would be some bumps along the road. I just think you should give it another chance, when they get a little more established before you pass judgement.
On the other hand, honestly I can't blame you though. If I go somewhere with expectations, and then the said place/event doesn't deliver I probably wouldn't be returning either.
Take it easy.

Eric James

The "can" reference is due to the fact that they are feeding you to someone who is EXPECTED to beat you. Look at your record vs his as well as the competition he has faced and at what level. It is nowhere close to an evenly matched fight. I wish you luck, AF, but look deeper into what is really going on here. No disrespect was intended towards you, only the matchmaking on the part of "the powers that be." If you are still pissed, feel free to email me and I will send you my phone number so we can chat.

I'VE trained with fairtex, team voodoo ,world team usa ,paul metayo and tosh gave me an invite to train with him untill the fight,i wont need luck wes sims can not out strike me ,he is not stronger than me he is not faster than me , yes he has alot of fights but if he never faced a guy with k-1 level leg kicks who knows what can happen ! All i need is one or two good deep kicks around his knee and the fight will be over ! mark my words .

I must step in here and say that from a fighters view point (only speaking for myself) I thought it was a great show, My family and I were taken care of from the begining, right to the end. The fighters dressing rooms were very relaxing, I was able to relax the whole day and not have a worry in the world. The casino and Hotel staff were GREAT!, I felt like a king! except when I got into the ring lol..anyways, I think the show went very well. Compared to the many many many shows I have been to this is ranked in the TOP 3. I know what it took to get this thing off the ground in such a short notice, I dont think its fair passing judgement on PFC when no one knows what it takes to put on a show like this, I know Christian went above and beyond in making sure every fight was treated like it was the only fight on the card. I am pretty sure everyone who fought for PFC can say the same thing. I met alot of great people, fighters this past week and when it is all said and done we all went home with smiles on our faces. I thought the atmospehere was great, where else can you get Shawn Bias dancing in a ring! lol..I know my oppinion does not mean much but I thought I owed it to everyone that experienced what I did. I am looking forward to the next show. Iron Shin will suprise alot of people!!

I had a great time although both my guys lost LOOSE CANNON and SICKBOY...their fights did last longer than Roy's. I hope all had a great time, I know it was different and I am glad to see a change. We had a need to keep MMA at the PALACE, Christian and the Tribe fulfilled that need. The shows will get better as the WEC shows got better through the years of learning.

Well good evening everybody,
I just want to thank everyone for coming out to support us with our new show. Christian and his staff had put in some grueling hours getting the PFC off the ground and I think they did a hell of a job. It was really hard to come out of nowhere and put on a show of this caliber in the short time we had to do it, but we promised everyone a show on January 18th and that is what we delivered.
The Tachi Palace is a big supporter of MMA and we showed it in our actions by putting on this show. We had many companies come out of the woodwork wanting to fill the hole that the WEC left but we didn't want to let the fighters be put in the hands of another promoting company so we did it ourselves. I hope all the fighters enjoyed the show and I hope to see everyone back in March. We are only going to get bigger and better.
The best thing about the PFC is it's our show now and it is not run by any outside agancy and will not be going anywhere. We are here to stay. Thanks for your support.

Roy, it's called deflection... he brings YOU up to cover up the losses of his 2 fighters... AGAIN! He is quick to rub salt in your wounds, but he'll never step up to the plate when you two get face to face. Consider the source and ignore it. You are 1-2... his fighters are now 0-?. Let him talk all the shit he wants, at least YOU figured out how to get a win.

I didnt make it to the show, but the one thing i was a little dissapointed in was the level of competition Poppies was put up against. I understand the show was put together on very short notice, but i find it hard to believe someone with a more respectable record wouldnt have wanted to step up on short notice against someone like Poppies. Id really like to see Poppies take a step up in comp, there are so many great 155lb fighters out there that he could be fighting, why do we have to keep seeing him fight 4-7 guys or 2-3 guys? Not to take shots at Poppies, id just really like to see him tested, and see where his game is really at.
Im also not thrilled about the pick for Wes Simms next opponent. Id like to see Simms against someone like Lavar Johnson(is he still fighting?). Who knows, maybe his opponent will suprise us?
All that said, i have faith that PFC will get better and better with each show. Ive never promoted a fight, but i attended Fight Promoter University II, and worked at a pro boxing event and have a little idea of what a huge pain in the fucking ass it must have been to get a show rolling in 6 weeks. Im sure glad i wasnt Christian this past couple months.

Eric I am sorry you did not enjoy yourself. I love going to the events at Eagle Mountain Casino as well. As a Professional Native American, I am very supportive of everything that is done by our brothers and sisters businesses.
I have not been able to make any of the Bakersfield area events yet as I keep a pretty busy schedule with an average of 2-3 events per month. But I'd love to make it down there if I can for the next one.
It's through the support of every level of MMA that the sport can grow.
I am very pleased with the way the first show went, was it completely different from what people experienced when we were co-producing the WEC shows. Of course. That was the point.
Was everything perfect? No.
Is there room for improvement? Always just as there is in every facet of life.
Will we continue to improve and polish the product? Without question.
Will we eventually have a television deal for these events: That is very likely.
Lavar is on his way back from a knee injury. I know he's eager to get back into action, but it's vital that he take his rehabbing and recovery properly.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion....but honestly...I think you were maybe in a day dream of some sort. The feedback I have recieved from fans has been tremendous. No, I was watching each and every match. I cover fights from Vegas to Miami, Seattle to Dallas, you name it, I've been there. In my opinion, it wasnt a good night of fights. Was it amazing what they were able to produce given the allotted time frame? Absolutely. I wont argue that. But it wasnt anywhere near entertaining TO ME. Even a photographer friend of mine who was covering the event texted me and told me he was bored and to wake him up when it was over. I personally talked to about 20 people and all had negative things to say about the event. Does that mean that EVERYONE hated it? Not at all. So are you saying that because the people you talked to who liked it negates those who I talked to? It's a matter of perspective. I went to this event as a fan, as opposed to a photographer, so that I could get the fans' perspective. I have gone to every WEC event that they had and have loved the way the events ran. I loved the way the Palace, Christian, and Jacob Jeff treated me at the fights. THIS IS NOTHING PERSONAL. From my perspective, I wasnt entertained and neither were alot of others. That doesnt mean that every person there held the same sentiment. To attack someone based on their opinion is ridiculous. When I pay 20, 30, or 40 dollars to be entertained, that's what I expect. I didnt feel like I got it. Would you feel the same way if I had dissed Cinderella Man because I thought it sucked and you thought otherwise? Does that then make my view not valid? Everyone's taste is different and everyone gets something different out of an experience. Mine happened to be negative. Does that make me wrong? No it doesnt. Does it make me right? Still the answer is no. I love MMA and I love what the Palace has been able to deliver over the past few years. I will continue to support MMA worldwide, not just on the local level. Intolerance to other's opinions leads to ignorance and discontent. Remember that. It's a valuable lesson to learn

There is so much to talk about but I will try and keep it short, first of all I am so glad that the forum for the PFC is up and running because I couldnt sleep at night after the WEC forum got locked up. I always enjoy watching MMA fights at any level so I had a great time the other night. So glad that the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino came up with the great idea to keep fights there. Just like any sport there will always be people who are more satisfied with the results than others, therefore I can understand Erics point of view. I enjoyed sitting next to Robert Breslin, Robert and I talked all night and he is really a stand up guy. Got to give props to Christian and that other guy, I think his name is Jeff Jacob , or something like that!! haha So good luck to the PFC in the future , I think you will all do good with it...

I didnt feel the need to "run home to the computer" like some little crying school girl. I simply got home and reported what I thought. Be tolerable. I have that right, just as you have the right to "run home to the computer" to defend your position.

Naw, I'll mingle with the drunks in the cheap seats. Who knows, maybe Christian will give me a meal ticket for one of those philly cheesesteaks (which were SOOOOOO good, by the way!) LOL:D

Hey Jeremy,
I got me another Bacon Bacon Cheeseburger with a Large order of Curly Fries and an Oreo Milkshake last night after practice. The Shake was so thick with huge chunks of Oreo Cookies in it I had to use a spoon when I got home to break them up a little. My hands got all greasy from the cheese and bacon hanging over the side. Man you don't know what your missing. But good luck with your diet :p

Hit Boy,
Sure you can join me next time but I'm a bad influance because my favorite spot is a place called Colima in Hanford where you can get a pound of Carnitas with fresh Corn Tortillas and Ice Cold Caronas. If you come I hope your not going to be making weight anytime soon cause I highly doubt you make it hanging out with me.
