LEMOORE — Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino Entertainment Director Christian Printup is excited to announce four more fights for Palace Fighting Championship II “Fast and Furious” on March 22nd at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore.
In addition to an already loaded card, Huntington Beach’s Justin McCully (7-3-2) will tangle with New London Connecticut’s Mike Dexter (4-3).
McCully is a member of Team Punishment and a training partner for former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (15-5).
McCully stands 6-foot-2 and comes in at 235 pounds. He’s on a 3-fight win streak and excited to be making his debut for the PFC.
“This will be my first time fighting in Lemoore and my first time fighting in the Palace Fighting Championship and I’m really excited,” McCully said. “I know now that they’ve parted with the WEC that they have their own promotion and a lot more latitude with the fights. I’m really looking forward to working with them in the future, too.”
Dexter hasn’t fought since 2005, but Printup is excited about the fight.
“Justin McCully is someone you hear a lot about… how he's such a beast in the gym. But a lot of people haven't really seen him yet. Obviously as one of Tito's main training partners you know he gets great training and he has fought and beaten some quality guys,” Printup said. “He lost to Evan Tanner, but hey there's nothing to be ashamed about there. This could be a coming out party of sorts for McCully. Mike Dexter is big. Mike Dexter is strong. Mike Dexter is fast. Mike Dexter has a good wrestling foundation and he's hungry. I think that these two guys in particular will want to prove that they are both the Alpha Male and we will have a helluva Heavyweight fight on our hands.”
McCully says he has been training hard and is ready.
“Training is going well. I’ve been doing a lot of boxing and takedowns and my jiu-jitsu like always,” McCully said. I’m making sure that I will be ready for the fight. I don’t know too much about Dexter. I know he is solid and he likes to bring it and I’m sure this will be a crowd-pleasing war.”
Also fighting will be Dexter’s brother Jimmy. Jimmy Dexter fights out of Fresno and comes into his middleweight fight with Ohio’s Eli Moreno (0-2) with a 0-3 record.
“It's definitely gratifying to be able to get both Jimmy and Mike Dexter on the card. They're brothers and for them to be able to fight on an exciting show with great production values and their family and friends in the venue, that's special, because you know it's a memory they'll share for the rest of their lives,” Printup said.
Visalia’s Mike Cook (2-1) and Alaska’s Brian Platfoot (2-0) are scheduled for a heavyweight bout and Santa Rosa’s Dmitry Upshenkov will make his pro debut against San Bernardino’s Pat Porter, who is also making his pro debut at 170 pounds.
In other scheduled bouts:
— In the main event, Columbus Ohio’s Wes “The Project” Sims (17-8-1) takes on Tulare’s Anthony Fuller (1-2) in a heavyweight bout.
— North Hollywood’s Lodune Sincaid (9-4) battles Lemoore’s Kenny Ento (6-1) at a catch weight of 195 pounds in the co-main event.
— Oroville’s Shawn Bias (9-3) is scheduled to fight Randy Spence (10-7) of Chico at 145 pounds.
— Arizona’s Richie Hightower (6-1) will fight David Mitchell (3-0) in a middleweight bout.
