Please send prayers for Cole "the Apache Kid" Escovedo. In mid December he contracted a stayph infection that went unchecked until last week. By the time it was disgnosed, the infection had wound it's way into his spine and he was paralyzed from the waist down.
Emergency surgery was performed last Saturday night to eradicate the infection from his spine, however, it has already shut off the transmiter sensors on no. 10 thru 7 of the lumbar spine.

Cole was released from the hospital yesterday and is walking with a walker. He has great heart and determination and with your prayers, I am sure he will get back to 100%.

Thank you,

Laura Escovedo

Cole will win this fight because he has the warriors heart. The PFC and Tachi Palace will be there for you Cole. Keep fighting, you will overcome this.

Poppies Martinez heard this tonight and called me. He asked that I type this message:

"Cole, keep fighting brother I know you won't ever give up..if you need anything I will be there for you. I respect you a lot and even though as fighters our paths have to cross sometimes it hurts to hear that you're not well. Me and my family and everyone here at CCFA will keep you in our thoughts and prayers." --Poppies Martinez.

You just never know what life holds for you. I have always respected Cole a great deal as a fighter. From what I have seen he is willing to take any fight, and I believe he will win this fight too. Even when our schools weren't on the best terms he would sometimes drop in just to say hello, and I always thought that was cool as heck. I'm sure he will be well looked after by his friends at PMA, but if New Era can do anything let us know and I will make sure it happens. Give it hell Cole!

Cole is doing well. He is working on walking without the walker. His legs still fail, but are getting stronger. He will be starting physical therapy soon and getting the staples out of his back. We can't thank you all enough for the thoughts and prayers, we truly believe they helped Cole get this far. Thanks so much for all the support, the MMA community really is one family.
