Lemoore, Ca — Fans of the Palace Fighting Championship have been waiting for this day to come.break]

And on Thursday, Jan. 17 Lemoore mixed martial artist Poppies Martinez will be put to the test against his stiffest competition to date — a PFC World Lightweight Title showdown with Atlanta’s Diego Saraiva (9-6-1).

Saraiva is a 3-time Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran on a 3-fight losing streak and looking to get on track against one of the local’s most loved and hated fighter at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino — the current home base of the PFC and former home of the World Extreme Cagefighting.

Martinez (14-3) and Saraiva will headline an ultra competitive 18-bout card.

“I can honestly say I’m looking forward to every single bout on this card. Some for different reasons than others. Obviously you look at the title fights, these are great fights. Martinez vs. Saraiva is an interesting fight, a career defining fight for both guys really,” Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino Entertainment Director Christian Printup said.

“All three of our champions are in tough fights, which is the way it should be. Brad Imes vs. Anthony Ruiz really intrigues me. I like the Nate Loughran and Richard Montoya fight a lot. I think a win here for Loughran is huge for his career. But Montoya's a tough dude, former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion, that’s going be a war.”

This card will rival PFC 4’s “Project Complete” which was held in October and featured such fighters as Martinez, UFC veterans Lodune Sincaid and Justin Levens, local favorite Kenny Ento and a historic battle between Olaf Alfonso and Thomas Denny. Not to mention the return of Fresno’s Jorge Evangelista and Parlier’s Mike Moreno and the debut of jiu-jitsu black belt Luis Gonzalez and Jeremy Luchau.

“This card is by far the deepest, as far as talent, from top to bottom. Our matchmakers continue to put together competitive fights and in this one we have many career defining fights for a lot of guys. I'm insanely excited about this card,” Printup said.

Two other title fights will be on the line at PFC 6’s “No Retreat, No Surrender”.

PFC featherweight titleholder Shawn Bias (12-5) of Oroville will battle Oakdale’s Art Arciniega (5-1) and bantamweight champ Shawn Klarcyk (5-1) of Porterville meets Oakdale’s Rolando Velasco.

Both Bias and Klarcyk will be defending their titles for the first time.

Martinez is the interim lightweight titleholder, and has been elevated to champion after San Bernardino’s Shad Smith (9-8-2) was stripped of his title.

Also expect some big announcements about some PFC signings on Jan. 17.

“We are really excited about some of the new fighters we're signing, especially in the flyweight division. We are going to be introducing some new additions to the PFC roster at PFC 6 and I'm really excited. It's crazy how fast we're growing.”

The tickets are priced at $40, $50 and $60 for public sale and can be purchased at tickets.com or charge by phone 1-800-225-2277.

“Seriously, if people wait until the week of the event they won't be able to find a ticket anywhere,” Printup said.
